Coach Leigh Brooks grew up in Pennsylvania where lacrosse was the only sport taught to girls in PE for the spring curriculum.Leigh played in her first lacrosse game when she was in the 4th grade. Back then that meant girls played without eye gear, restraining lines, shooting space or even boundaries! Yes, that is also when the "dinosaurs" of that day played with wooden sticks and in positions called cover point, 3rd man, and 2nd home to name a few! Leigh continued to play lacrosse as a left defense wing all the way through college where she played on Ursinus College's Division III National Championship team for 2 years in a row. Leigh's goal as a coach to middle school girls is to instill, not just lacrosse skills, but life skills. Lacrosse is a great venue to gain understanding of commitment, perseverance, sportsmanship, teamwork, and goal setting. Leigh dedicates her time coaching to her late husband, John Clark and nephew, Parker Jackson, both enthusiastic lacrosse players who loved the sport and left a tremendous legacy to all who knew them. Leigh is married to Don Brooks and has 2 daughters, Hannah-Leigh and Haley.
Coach David Winsnesss has 3 daughters that play lacrosse. David's first season coaching recreation lacrosse was spring of 2008. In the fall of '08, he coached for the Milton Fall Ball league. The most memorable moment of his rookie girls lacrosse coaching season was witnessing an overtime victory by his U13 Rec Team against a heavily favored elite U15 Georgia Feeder Team at the Southeastern Bagataway Lacrosse Championships. The U13 Rec team was assisted by only four Milton U15 Feeder players who were all only thirteen. The team was down by six points at halftime and pulled off the overtime victory through gut wrenching determination and overwhelming team spirit. Motivating girls to play above their physical boundaries, to be leaders on and off the field, and to believe in themselves and their peers are traits that David attempts to instill. This spring of 2009, he is excited to be joining the Milton Feeder Team coaching staff and working with the Feeder Red Team.
Coach Susan Hoffman was on the inaugural Milton Lacrosse team in 2001 and was Captain and MVP of the 2002 team, which was the first year lacrosse was officially sanctioned in the state of Georgia. Susan went on to play for four years at Auburn University where she was named Captain in 2006 and voted most valuable Attack player in 2005 and in 2006. She has helped with a number of lacrosse camps in the Alpharetta and Birmingham areas. Susan will be helping coach the Feeder Red team this spring of '09.
Coach David Haight coming soon
